Psychology Student gets top honour at 10th Convocation Ceremony

23rd November 2019 - Over 3,000 loved ones came to University of Cyberjaya on Saturday to witness their children graduate from the university during the 10th Convocation Ceremony. The occasion, one filled with pride and joy for all present, saw close to 600 students don their graduating robes and walk across the stage to receive their scrolls. The ceremony was truly an international affair, thanks to the presence of loved ones who travelled to Malaysia from various countries globally for the occasion also special guests from Yemen and Maldives.

University of Cyberjaya’s 10th Convocation Ceremony witnessed the installation of a new Chancellor, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Anuwar Ali. The occasion was one for the books as it was the institution’s first Chancellor’s installation since becoming a fully accorded University last October.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Anuwar Ali said that the event was a celebration of all the hard work that the students had put in through the course of their education at the university.

“I would like to congratulate each and every one of our alumni for reaching this momentous moment. It is our hope that they will continue to display this spirit of excellence in the next phase of their life, whether it be continuing their education or entering the workforce,” said Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Anuwar Ali.

28 outstanding students from the graduating class of 2019 from across faculties were honoured as the recipients of seven special award of the evening for Student Excellence. The awards were, the Chancellor’s Award, Vice-Chancellor’s Award, Dean’s Award, Industrial Award, Pharmaniaga Pharmacy Excellence Award, Homeopathy Gold Medal Award and Alumni Excellence Award.

The most anticipated award of the evening, the Chancellor’s Award was conferred to Noor Aimi Shafiqah binti Mohd Huta, a Bachelor of Psychology student.

The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence is the highest honour for a student and recognizes students in the graduating class who have demonstrated the highest levels of academic excellence and made significant contributions to excellence during their undergraduate experience.

In her acceptance speech, the humbled Noor Aimi Shafiqah thanked the competent and professional lecturers of the University of Cyberjaya that contributed to her success.

“The lecturers are not just knowledgeable and skilful in their fields, but they are also very supportive and concerned with the students’ academic and involvements on campus. They are indeed an inspiration to many students who are graduating today. Thank you for your dedication, guidance and strong support”, said Noor Aimi.

When asked about her plans for her future, she discussed plans on furthering her studies till the postgraduate level since it has always been her dream. She wants to delve deeper into the field of research and develop ground-breaking frameworks to elevate the field of Psychology in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Qudri Aina binti Mohd Safiee from the Bachelor of Occupational Safety and Health was the recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award.

On her success, Qudri Aina said “I always try to put myself in challenging environments. Making new friends and meeting different people from different backgrounds can be challenging for an introvert like me but I am always trying something new and adventurous to try staying out of my comfort zone.”

Qudri Aina advised her juniors to always stay humble. “We are all humans and each of us have our own strengths and weaknesses. Always be open-minded and don’t be afraid of constructive comments and opinions”.

Muhammad Razi Bin Md Rosli, a Bachelor of Pharmacy student was also honoured with the Alumni Excellence Award.

The Alumni Excellence Award is presented to an alumnus who has demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in his/her chosen field, exceptional service in local, state or national affairs and exceptional service in support of the advancement and continued excellence of the University of Cyberjaya.

Muhammad Razi Bin Md Rosli currently works with MIDAS pharma and has helped three to four cohorts of the university’s Bachelor in Pharmacy students to undergo their internship at various MIDAS pharmacy branches.
