Music Maestro Dr Ilaiyaraaja Meets CUCMS’ Students
Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences welcomed the maestro of India’s music industry, Dr Ilaiyaraaja to our Cyberjaya campus on 4th August 2017. CUCMS’ Staff and students were excited to meet the 74-year-old renowned composer who works in the South Indian cinema industry predominantly in Tamil cinema since the late 1970s.
His extraordinary music has lifted the industry for almost four decades. CUCMS’ staff and students could relate themselves with his music as they grew up listening to his 6,000 over songs in over 1000 movies. The fruitful Meet & Greet session saw Dr Ilaiyaraaja answering and giving advice to the students and the excitement continued as he sang a short verse for the audience.
Dr Ilaiyaraaja shared the importance of music and culture in creating a well-rounded and balanced individual. He stressed that appreciating music is something we should inculcate in the youths of today.
“Dr Ilaiyaraaja’s contribution to music has been very creative and original. His emphasis is an enriching for the listeners through natural and authenticity experiences,” says one of his fans, Rathi DK.
Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences’ Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr R Palan was on hand to receive Dr Ilaiyaraaja said, “It was an honor for us to have the maestro at our Campus and it’s good to see the overwhelming supports from our students. We hope all his fans will get a chance to see him live in Kuala Lumpur this coming October”.
Dr Ilaiyaraaja was in Malaysia to launch his ‘Raaja – The One Man Show’ concert that will take place on 7th October 2017 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil. CyberjayaUC is proud to be the sponsor for his upcoming concert in Malaysia after 4 years of delayed from the previous concert which had been cancelled due to his health issue.
Raaja – The One Man Show will be the biggest Tamil concert organized in Malaysia and expecting over 15,000 people to attend it.
