About the Faculty
The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences holds the distinction of being the faculty that offers the most number of programmes at the University. The faculty was formed in 2010 to meet the aspirations of the nation to produce more professional human capital in the allied health sciences field. It seeks to nurture the next generation of leaders in the healthcare profession.
The Faculty concentrates on 5 key disciples namely Psychology, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Paramedical Sciences and Medical Assistant. These programmes are geared towards meeting the talent gaps in the Malaysia health care industry as identified by the Ministry of Health.
In support of the multidisciplinary team approach for healthcare delivery the Faculty aims to continue growing and diversifying with a student-focused faculty and a wide range of academic interests.
About the Dean
Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Abdul Aziz
Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin graduated as a medical doctor from UKM (National University of Malaysia) in 1987. He worked as a medical officer in Kuala Lumpur General Hospital and later completed his postgraduate in Anatomy at UKM in 1994.
Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin has vast experiences in teaching of Anatomy including include Gross Anatomy, Histology, Neuranatomy and Embryology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Throughout his career, Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin has led various committees, units and departments including being the Dean of a medical school in Kedah when the first batch of medical students were enrolled. Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin has also been appointed as an external examiner for the MBBS and BDS programmes.
He has been invited by various universities in Malaysia to be their external examiner and also a qualified assessor for MQA including being a panel of assessor in the field of Anatomy. In recognition of his service, he has been awarded with the Excellent Service Award by Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has also won several medals related to his research activities.
