About the Faculty

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences holds the distinction of being the faculty that offers the most number of programmes at the University. The faculty was formed in 2010 to meet the aspirations of the nation to produce more professional human capital in the allied health sciences field. It seeks to nurture the next generation of leaders in the healthcare profession.

The Faculty concentrates on 5 key disciples namely Psychology, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Paramedical Sciences and Medical Assistant. These programmes are geared towards meeting the talent gaps in the Malaysia health care industry as identified by the Ministry of Health.

In support of the multidisciplinary team approach for healthcare delivery the Faculty aims to continue growing and diversifying with a student-focused faculty and a wide range of academic interests.

About the Dean

Dr. Ahmad Fairuz Mohamed

Dean

Dr. Ahmad Fairuz Mohamed holds a Masters in Public Health from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He served as a House Officer at Hospital Teluk Intan, Perak and then as a Medical Officer at Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah. In 2012 he joined the Ministry of Health at Putrajaya as a Senior Director Officer of the Telehealth Department.

Dr. Fairuz’s academic career first began at the Management and Science University where he was promoted to Head of Department of Community Medicine. He eventually took up his current position as the Assistant Professor of Public Health and Deputy Dean of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Fairuz had been selected to be an international speaker at the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Conference held at MSU in collaboration with New Zealand. He had been an oral presenter and chairperson of the 2015 International Conference On Global Public Healt in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Over the years, Dr Ahmad Fairuz attained many achievements which also include publications of various research papers and books.

Dr Fairuz is an expert in the OSH field and very active in conducting OSH programmes in collaboration with NIOSH and MIOSH (Selangor). He has vast experiences in conducting Medical Surveillance, HRA, Audiometry, HIRARC, Wellness program and OSH training programmes. His areas of interest in OSH includes OHD Advisory, Medical Surveillance, Audiometry, Health Risk Assessment, Chemical Health Risk Assessment, Ergonomic and Wellness Program in workplaces.
