According to Vishanth Rathakrishnan, chairperson of the ROFL, “The ‘Rest or Fiesta Lah (ROFL) 2017’ was an initiative to gather staff and students to celebrate and engage in games, talks and recreation".

CYBERJAYA UC REST OR FIESTA LAH (ROFL) 2017

Fellow citizens of Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences had three days of fun and celebration from 10th to 12th October 2017. The fiesta organized by CyberjayaUC Student Council started off with a launching ceremony on 10 October 2017 by Deputy President (Student Affairs & Alumni) Prof Dr Abdul Latiff Mohamed. A line up of performances were presented by CyberjayaUC students to add to the excitement. The fiesta aimed to rev up energy and spread positive vibes among fellow students and staff.

Among the sports competitions held throughout the celebration were Futsal, Dodgeball, Archery and eSports Open Tournament. ‘eSports’, also known as Electronic sports is a form of competition that is facilitated by video games which is usually held in organized, multiplayer video game competitions.

ESports winners were Miracle Medhat Zakher, Foundation in Science student, Mohd Sofian bin Mohd Shadan, Bachelor of Occupational Safety and Health student from the Faculty of Safety and Health and Zaid Shaaban, Bachelor of Physiotherapy student from the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences

The Futsal winners included team Tak Nak Kalah FC as champion, team Leo FC as Runner Up and team Garden FC as 2nd Runner Ups.

The fiesta continued with food truck sales, blood donation campaign, booths promoting organ donation registration, free kidney health screening, ‘Mehendi’ art and an exclusive feature of Zumba ‘Sweat Off: Depression & Anxiety challenge which was brought by Cyberjaya University College’s official partner, MyPerintis. A complimentary movie screening of 47 Meters Down was held as well. It was a thriller movie about two sisters who get trapped underwater in a shark cage. Certainly, a movie that kept audiences at the edge of their seats.

The ROFL carnival concluded with a CUCMS’ GOT TALENT on 12th October 2017 from 7 to 10pm. This exciting event aimed to unveil new talents and encourage participants to unleash their confidence. Held at the campus auditorium, all staff and students were welcomed to participate. Indeed, it was a memorable evening for those present to support and be part of the fiesta. CyberjayaUC Got Talent winners were two solo performers, Amir who sang If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys and Affendi who sang When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars and the band Ectopic beats with their soulful band performance.

According to Vishanth Rathakrishnan, the chairperson of the organizing committee along with CyberjayaUC Student Affairs, “The ‘Rest or Fiesta Lah (ROFL) 2017’ was an initiative to gather staff and students from various courses, faculties and departments to celebrate and engage in interaction through participation in games, talks and recreation. The event received amazing support from everyone, regardless of student or staff”.
