“The future of Biomedical Engineering Technology will depend further on the evolvement of technology as more complex medical equipment will be developed to improve the quality of healthcare”.
Adventurous Islander Seeks to Broaden Her Horizons
Leshna Lekhika Ramdhony an International student from the Republic of Mauritius chose to pursue her education in Malaysia simply because in her own words “Studying in Malaysia feels like home. The food is excellent and the
weather is very much like my native land”. She is pursuing her Foundation in Allied Sciences leading to a degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology.
Leshna chose Malaysia over India which was her other option because she felt that Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS) offered the exact programme she was interested in which was Biomedical Engineering Technology. Her parents were very supportive of her decision and had provided everything that was required for her to study in Malaysia.
Though she just began her Foundation programme, Leshna is resolute in achieving her dream to develop an apparatus’ that will contribute towards the enhancement of the Biomedical Engineering Technology field. According to Leshna, “The future of Biomedical Engineering Technology will depend further on the evolvement of technology as more complex medical equipment will be developed to improve the quality of healthcare”.
Leshna indicated that varsity life is definitely way different compared to life in high school. “Parents were physically around for direct moral support. Living away from family is certainly a great challenge. I have to be independent and well-disciplined to be able to manage my time wisely. However, varsity life provides an opportunity to gain more friends and become more communicative as we tend to disclose deeper information with each other” said Leshna. As for keeping in touch with her family back in Mauritius, Leshna uses video chat via the Internet connection.
Back in Mauritius, Leshna would frequently hang out at beaches; go hiking on the hills, mountains, and waterfalls, parasailing, going underwater sea-walks and more. “Nature is warm and welcoming, it is a better place to just be free from unnecessary thoughts and discover peace”, she said. Besides that, she also enjoys indoor activities like bowling, karaoke and shopping.
Leshna feels that the people in Malaysia are warm and friendly. She looks forward to exploring this tropical gateway in the beauty of its enchanting forests as she believes that Malaysia has a lot to offer in terms of natural wonder.
